My name is Aniela Kurkiewicz and I am an interdisciplinary artist-photographer based in Rotterdam. My main areas of interest revolve around intersectional feminism and visual semiotics. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Sunil Gupta and Carrie Mae Weems, I tell stories on representation of social class and queerness. In my practice, I rely on knowledge and understanding derived from theoretical and participatory research.
I've showcased my work at a rose is a rose is a rose Gallery as a part of Queer Currents festival (Amsterdam), Radion (Amsterdam, NL), De Church (Amsterdam, NL), De Doelen (Rotterdam, NL), Mono (Rotterdam, NL), Tampere Photography Festival (Tampere, FI), Rondo Gallery SOK (Slupsk, PL), Turnus na Wolskiej (Warsaw, PL).
In print: Girls and Queers to the Front Erotica Zine, Noone Magazine Amsterdam and I Bite Back queer zine founded by Małgorzata Mycek.
